Seven Words Of The Cross

And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. -Luke 23:43, KJV-

You Shall Be With Me

Jesus hung there on the cross
A thief on either side
They were punished for their crimes
But 'twas for our sins He died.

As the soldiers mocked and scorned
One thief threw insults too
"You for others did so much
For yourself what can you do?"

But the other dying thief
Recognized God's only Son
Saying, "Lord, remember me
When to paradise you come."
And Jesus looked upon the thief
Compassion in His eyes
Said, "Today you shall be with me
When I come to paradise."

Many wept aloud that day
To see Him in such pain
Great the sorrow in their hearts
When the Son of God was slain.

Jesus gave His precious blood
To cleanse my sin and shame
And whate'er I need is mine
If I ask it in His name.

Then just like the dying thief
Recognize God's only Son
Saying, "Lord, remember me
When to paradise you come."
And Jesus will look down on me
Compassion in His eyes
Say, "One day you shall be with me
When you enter paradise."
