Seven Words Of The Cross

And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? -Matthew 27:46, KJV-

Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me

When the quake rent the veil of the temple
Dark shadows covered the land
And there was thunder and lightening
Sent by the Father's own hand.

"My God! My God!
Why hast thou forsaken me?
In my deepest agony
Nailed upon this cruel tree,
On calvary."

When the soldiers were stricken with terror
Fearing the deed they had done
God's wrath swept over the country
And they knew this was God's Son.

When the whole world was shaking and trembling
And rocks were splitting apart
Jesus cried out to His Father
Great sorrow burdened His heart.

When this life seems to bring only sorrow
Jesus is always right there
If we but love Him and serve Him
We'll never cry in despair:
