Seven Words Of The Cross

And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed. Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me; nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. - Luke 22:41-42, KJV-

Let This Cup Now Pass From Me

It was alone the Saviour prayed
In dark Gethsemane
He threw Himself down on the ground
Saying "Let this cup now pass from Me."

A cruel fate awaited Him
The Father had designed
His blood would pardon all the sins
Wash clean the souls of all mankind

In grief and anguish did He pray
"Oh, Father, hear My plea
"Yet not My will, but Thine be done
"And let this cup now pass from Me."

Great drops of sweat fell from His brow
His sorrow was so great
And the disciples fell asleep
Because the hour was growing late.

It was alone the Saviour prayed
But it was not to be
His destiny could not be changed
To "Let this cup now pass from Me."
