Seven Words Of The Cross
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said,
It is finished; and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. -John 19:30, KJV-
It Is Finished
One cruel Jerusalem morning
Many years ago and far away
Jesus walked through the streets filled with people
And it was a sorrowful day.
On a lovely, but lonely green hillside
Known to the world as Calvary
He was despised and rejected
And nailed to a cross made from a tree.
And then He cried out " It is finished! "
As He hung on the cross at Calvary
And when He cried out " It is finished! "
Our Lord had fulfilled His destiny.
And there was much sadness and weeping
From all who believed the gospel news
And up over His head was a sad sign
Proclaiming Him King of the Jews.
And His heart was so heavily burdened
He bore the sins of all mankind
He paid the price for our ransom
And no greater love you'll ever find.
Can you hear Him cry " It is finished! "
As He hangs on the cross at Calvary
If you hear Him cry " It is finished! "
Then you should fall down on your knees.
