Seven Words of the Cross

When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! -John 19:26, KJV-

Woman Behold Thy Son

"Woman, behold thy son,"
Our Lord whispered from the cross
His mother silently suffered
The anguish of such great loss.

She felt the hurt inside
Tear at her aching heart
She could do nothing to help Him
For she knew they had to part.

BRIDGE
And such was a mother's grief
As God's own will was done
That she could not hide
The tears, as He cried
"Woman, behold thy son."

She thought of how he'd lived
And all the good things he'd done
Rememb'ring Jesus was also
The heavenly Father's Son.

"Woman, behold thy son,"
His words pierced the awful pain
Her son was not lost forever--
In heaven they'd meet again.
