Where Is The Snow?

On a clear and peaceful day
When cold north winds begin to blow;
And the earth prepares to sleep but…
Where is the snow?

Hills and lawns are still half green,
And little brooks still freely flow;
Scattered leaves are flying ‘round but…
Where is the snow?

Naked trees try to keep warm
By swaying gently to and fro;
While fir trees wave their long green arms but…
Where is the snow?

The sun above shines brightly down
But still the temperature dips low;
A frosty chill invades the air but…
Where is the snow?

The calendar says winter’s here,
Earth should be at rest below
A heavy blanket of pure white but…
Where is the snow?

When the night is crisp and clear,
The moon and stars begin to glow
Between the dark clouds drifting by; but…
Where is the snow?
