The Prince Of Wales

The nineteenth Prince of Wales
In July of sixty-nine
Was presented to the Welsh
Just a young man in his prime

The whole world saw it all
By way of TV screen
And millions of us watched
In awed respect, the Royal scene

Red carpet on the platform
That was built on solid ground
As Charles knelt upon the stool
World leaders watched from all around

He accepted with serenity
The mantle, Sword, and Crown
The Ring and Golden Verge
And there was silence all around

Though he was but twenty years
And so young for all of this
He pledged his oat of Fealty
And received his Soverignís kiss

Then Queen Elizabeth
Amidst the shouts and hails
Presented to the people
Her first-born son, the Prince of Wales
