The “Different” One

There he stands, alone and rejected
Tears falling from his eyes
How can people be so cruel
Who think they are so wise
I don’t think that it should be
For him to be alone and cry
Just because he’s “not quite right”
And different from you and I
His world may be a simpler one
Uncluttered with problems and cares
All he asks is a friendly word
So don’t leave him standing there
Hold out your hand to a “different” child
Give him a friendly smile
Show him that you can be different too
Help ease his pain for a while.
