Misty Dawn

I watched the dawn break
On a misty day,
When the earth was wet
And the sky was grey;
And the world was quiet
And oh, so still,
And the lazy sun
Hid beneath the hill;
And there was no wind
To caress the trees,
No white-capped waves
On the still, dark seas;
And all was peaceful
In the early light,
As that misty dawn
Brought an end to night.
