How awful it is to be young and small!
Why, I can't hardly do nothing at all!
None of the things that I want to do,
And I don't think it's fair - do you?
Can't play in water ‘cause I get wet,
Got to watch traffic - I might get hit,
And they think that if I go very far
I might get lost. How silly they are!
Can't play with tools - I could hurt myself,
Can't go fishing without someone's help;
Things I can't do, places I can't go -
How's a kid to learn, I'd like to know.
But, sometimes, being small is alright,
When Mommy kisses you and hugs you tight,
When she fixes hurt feelings and skinned-up knees,
And says "I love you." Don't you agree?
