The Silvery Moon

The silvery moon is shining
On the silent world below
Creating shadow pictures
On the freshly fallen snow

The tall fir trees are laden
With a blanket soft and white
And in the dark blue sky above
The stars are twinkling bright

There's smoky spirals rising
In the frosty nighttime air
Thoughts of home fires burning
And the warmth we used to share

It's very cold here on the porch
But you will be home soon
So I will stay and wait for you
Beneath the silvery moon.
