Note: The baptism records of St. Paulís Anglican Church at Trinity, lists the birth of a daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth B[cut off] named Ann. This was probably Ann Bowen, who married John Dewey in 1771. Her age of 31 at the time of her death, puts her birth at around 1758 which would be close enough.
The burial record for William, son of John and Ann Dewey, has him listed as Junr, leading us to believe that a William Dewey Seenr was still alive at that time, 1794. But was William Snr the brother or father of John Dewey?
The custom was to name the first son after the father's father, which strengthens the possibility that John's father may have been named William.
