Note: William Pope of Stone’s Cove came to Newfoundland from England as a youth, maybe nineteen or so, possibly around 1829. There is no death record for him. Family members know he was at Brunette Island before going to Stone’s Cove. Mary Ann may have been a Keeping, or possibly the daughter of Reuben and Ann Buffett, born around 1814, as is strongly suggested by family names.
