George King of Great Jervis

KING, George
      Born: probably around 1840
Married: 05 September 1866, Great Jervis; by Edward Colley; witnesses Eli Cox and Dinah Engram
      Spouse [1]: Mary Engram
      Children:
[1] Elizabeth King; born 1867, Great Jervis; baptized 24 July 1867, by Edward Colley

      Spouse [2]: Elizabeth Unknown
      Children:
[2] Susanna King; born 1869, Great Jervis; baptized 02 May 1869 by Edward Colley
[3] Charles King; born 1871, Great Jervis; baptized 04 April 1871 by Edward Colley
[4] George King; born 1874, Great Jervis; baptized 16 July 1874 by Edward Colley

Notes:
- According to Lovellís and MacAlpineís Newfoundland Directories for 1871, there were at Pushthrough: Charles King, John King, Nathan[iel] King, and William King, while George King was at Great Jervis. It is very possible that these men were all related but there is no evidence to substantiate the theory.
- In the baptism of his children, George King is listed as a fisherman of Great Jervis. However, George King, Clerk, is the only one by that name recorded at Great Jervis in Lovellís 1871 Directory of Newfoundland.
- The marriage record of George King and Elizabeth has not been found, but George may have been a widower when he married Elizabeth. The principle reason for this theory is because there appears to have been only one George King in Great Jervis in that time period. George and Mary King are not found in any other community in the area and they do not appear to have had other children, indicating that Mary may have died and George then remarried.
- No further information has been found for Elizabeth [1867] and George [1874]. They may have died young.
