Ever Elvis

Ever Elvis

The Last Ride

As the hearse starts down the driveway
no words could ever tell
The sorrow that is in our hearts,
the pain of our last farewell;
Out through the gates of Graceland
so smoothly now it swings,
To take away the earthly form
of our dear departed ‘King’.

Down this street so many times
he travelled in the past,
But this is very different
for this ride will be his last;
Slowly down the boulevard
as the crowds are standing still,
The white procession moves
to the crypt at Forest Hill.

The place is banked with flowers
of every hue and size,
And as the coffin is carried in
tears fall from many eyes;
Gone from our sight forever
but always in our hearts;
He left us so much to enjoy
that we will never be apart.

The last ride now is over,
peace for him is our request,
Beside his beloved mother
Elvis is laid to rest;
May God above watch over
the soul of this great man,
And may he dwell eternally
in the blessed Promised Land.

Ever Elvis
