a quiet southern boy,
who brought the world much love and joy,
whom cruelty could not destroy,
who was snatched from us like a broken toy.
a gentle, loving man,
who always had a helping hand,
who always tried to understand,
and made us proud to be his fans.
a man whose heart was always true,
whose eyes were twinkling and so blue,
whose lips were always smiling too,
and who gave his all for me and you.
a man who loved to share,
with anyone, and anywhere,
gave of himself, and voice so rare,
and always let us know he cared.
a very famous name,
a man who had both wealth and fame,
and without him life’s not the same,
I live with heartache, grief and pain.
and I am thinking of,
a man I always used to love,
who watches now from up above,
and knows it’s him we’re thinking of.
